Span™ 20 is a sorbitan monolaurate for use as a wetter, emulsifier, emulsifier O/W, and emulsifier W/O. It is part of a broad range of ester materials including sorbitan esters, mono and diglycerides, and polyoxyethylene sorbitol esters. These nonionic surfactants can function as emulsifiers, detergents, spreading or dispersing agents. It finds wide use in the personal care industry. Manufacturer:Croda application: Span 20 has been used in a study to assess enhanced solubility and oral bioavailability of itraconazole. It has also been used in a study to investigate the oxidation of unsaturated lipids in oil-in-water emulsions. |
