Introduction: “Suitable for HPLC” (HPLC Grade)

HPLC grade refers to solvents and reagents that meet stringent purity and low UV absorbance criteria required for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). These materials are specifically processed to eliminate contaminants that might interfere with chromatographic detection, particularly UV, fluorescence, or MS detection.

Key Features of HPLC Grade Materials

1. High Purity

· Typically ≥99.9% pure.

· Free of non-volatile or interfering impurities.

2. Low UV Absorbance

· Ensures baseline stability during UV detection.

· UV cutoff values are specified at critical wavelengths (e.g., 254 nm, 210 nm, 190 nm).

3. Low Particulate Content

· Prevents column clogging and detector fouling.

· Often filtered through 0.2 μm membranes during production.

4. Batch-to-Batch Consistency

· Tested with lot-specific certificates of analysis (CoA) for reproducibility in chromatographic performance.

5. Low Fluorescence and MS Interference (optional)

· For fluorescence or MS detection, solvents may also be labeled as fluorescence grade or LC-MS grade.
