随储存时间而变暗。有似苯和甲醇的混合气味。能随水蒸气挥发。能与乙醇、丁醇、乙醚、丙酮 、苯、氯仿、萘烷和石油醚混溶,溶于甲醇(50.6%w/w),不溶于水。露置空气中能产生四氢萘过氧化物,蒸馏时能与四氢萘作用发生爆炸,可加对苯二酚抗氧剂。低毒,半数致死量(大鼠,经口)2.86g/kg。有刺激性。检验锰。脱脂剂。中间体。萘、油类和树脂的溶剂
