白细胞介素-18 (IL-18)是一种属于IL-1超家族的细胞因子,由巨噬细胞和其他细胞产生。IL-18通过与IL-18受体结合发挥作用,在脂多糖(LPS)等微生物产物感染后,与IL-12一起诱导细胞介导的免疫。经IL-18刺激后,自然杀伤(NK)细胞和某些T细胞释放另一种重要的细胞因子干扰素-γ (IFN-γ)或ⅱ型干扰素,在激活巨噬细胞或其他细胞中起重要作用。该细胞因子与IL12的结合已被证明可以抑制IL-4依赖性IgE和IgG1的产生,并增强B细胞中IgG2a的产生。IL-18结合蛋白(IL18BP)可与该细胞因子发生特异性相互作用,从而负向调控其生物学活性。

Interleukin-18 (IL-18) is a cytokine that belongs to the IL-1 superfamily and is produced by macrophages and other cells. IL-18 works by binding to the interleukin-18 receptor, and together with IL-12 it induces cell-mediated immunity following infection with microbial products like lipopolysaccharide (LPS). After stimulation with IL-18, natural killer (NK) cells and certain T cells release another important cytokine called interferon-γ (IFN-γ) or type II interferon that plays an important role in activating the macrophages or other cells. The combination of this cytokine and IL12 has been shown to inhibit IL-4 dependent IgE and IgG1 production, and enhance IgG2a production in B cells. IL-18 binding protein (IL18BP) can specifically interact with this cytokine, and thus negatively regulate its biological activity.
