Product Description

Rat anti Mouse Transferrin Receptor/CD71 Antibody, Monoclonal (R17 217.1.3), could be used for Flow, in vivo depletion of CD71+ cells and so on.
Application:
in vivo depletion of CD71+ cells: Use at an assay dependent concentration.
Flow: Use at an assay dependent concentration.
Protein Function
Cellular uptake of iron occurs via receptor-mediated endocytosis of ligand-occupied transferrin receptor into specialized endosomes. Endosomal acidification leads to iron release. The apotransferrin-receptor complex is then recycled to the cell surface with a return to neutral pH and the concomitant loss of affinity of apotransferrin for its receptor. Transferrin receptor is necessary for development of erythrocytes and the nervous system (By similarity). A second ligand, the heditary hemochromatosis protein HFE, competes for binding with transferrin for an overlapping C-terminal binding site. Positively regulates T and B cell proliferation through iron uptake (PubMed:26642240).
(Microbial infection) Acts as a receptor for new-world arenaviruses: Guanarito, Junin and Machupo virus.

Two-color flow cytometric analysis of Transferrin Receptor/CD71 expression on mouse bone marrow cells. C57BL/6 mouse bone marrow cells were stained with CD45R Rat mAb (AF647) (Ab191663) and either Rat IgG Isotype Control Antibody (Biotin) (Ab180310; Left panel) or Transferrin Receptor/CD71 Rat mAb (Ab132257; Right panel) at 0.5 μg/mL. Two-color flow cytometric dot plots showing the correlated expression of CD45R versus Transferrin Receptor/CD71 (or Isotype control staining) were derived from gated events with the forward and side light-scatter characteristics of viable mononuclear cells.
