Note
Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day. However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20°C. Generally, these will be useable for up to one month. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour. Product Description
Aphidicolin is a tetracyclic diterpene antibiotic and DNA synthesis inhibitor isolated from Cephalosporium aphidicola. Aphidicolin is reported to specifically inhibit DNA polymerase α and δ via binding to the enzyme, in eukaryotic cells such as the HeLa cell line, without affecting other DNA polymerases. This compound blocks the cell cycle at early S phase and has been reported to be useful for synchronizing cell cycles in cultured eukaryotic cells. This compound is also noted to induce apoptosis in HeLa S3 cells after 18-24 hours of the cell cycle. A novel tetracyclic diterpene antibiotic and also a DNA synthesis inhibitor in eukaryotes
This compound belongs to the class of organic compounds known as aphidicolane and stemodane diterpenoids. These are diterpenoids with a structure based on the aphidicolane or the stemodane skeleton.
