有蒜的气味,易吸潮,在空气中慢慢氧化而成正磷酸,比重1.651(21.2℃)。(分解)。热至180℃以上则分解为磷化氢及正磷酸,易溶于水和醇,有腐蚀性 测定汞、金、银和铅,还原剂,检定碘酸、铜和镉。工业上亚磷酸是制造塑料稳定剂的原料。也用于合成纤维和亚磷酸盐制造。
