Synthesis of the to enhance synergistic adsorption and reduction of hexavalent chromium from wastewater
The polyethyleneimine functionalized magnetic NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti) composite (PFMC) is successfully synthesized for Cr 6+ removal from wastewater with remarkable selectivity. The influence of adsorption parameters such as adsorption time and initial concentration on Cr 6+ removal is investigated. The Cr 6+ adsorption behavior is analyzed using Hill and pseudo-second-order model with adsorption capacity of 302.09 mg/g, which can meet the emission standard of the WHO allowable value (50 μg/L). Moreover, PFMC exhibits excellent selectivity for Cr 6+ adsorption in coexisting ions wastewater and stability in the different water systems. The Cr 6+ removal mechanism is analyzed, which includes electrostatic attraction and reduction reaction. The present work demonstrates that PFEM has promising potential in Cr 6+ removal from wastewater.
