Na2YMg2V3O12:Dy3+, Eu3+ wideband absorption phosphors suitable for near ultraviolet excitation

ABSTRACT

The self-activated and rare earth Dy 3+ and Eu 3+ ions doped Na 2 YMg 2 V 3 O 12 phosphors with single garnet structure were obtained by using solid state reaction method. Self-activated Na 2 YMg 2 V 3 O 12 phosphors have a wide excitation band in near-ultraviolet range, Dy 3+ and Eu 3+ ions were co-doped in Na 2 YMg 2 V 3 O 12 host to broaden the excitation peak range of the phosphors. Using 365 nm near-ultraviolet light as the excitation wavelength, Na 2 YMg 2 V 3 O 12 :Dy 3+ ,Eu 3+ phosphors simultaneously emit sharp transition peaks of Dy 3+ ions at 487 nm and 576 nm, and red transition peaks of Eu 3+ at 595 nm, 611 nm and 635 nm. The energy transfer processes between VO 4 3− , Dy 3+ and Eu 3+ were discussed. The multicolor light emitting can be adjustable and white light can be realized due to the changing amount of the doped ions. Emission spectra dependent of temperature showed that Na 2 YMg 2 V 3 O 12 :Dy 3+ , Eu 3+ phosphors had good thermal quenching performance, indicating that the phosphors can be used in the field of near ultraviolet excited WLED.
