ABSTRACT

Lightweight, ultra-strength, and renewable MXene composite films with excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding characteristics have great application potential in next generation high-tech electronic devices. Herein, multifunctional high performance MXene/densified wood (MXene/DW) films were fabricated by vacuum immersion of Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene and Cu 2+ solution into delignified wood and then hot-pressing densification. The results show that the composite film has superior mechanical properties, and the tensile strength , tensile modulus , and toughness are 424.7 MPa, 14.6 GPa and 8.0 MJ·m −3 , respectively. The MXene/DW film exhibits excellent electrothermal conversion performance, making the film possess promising application in the fields of deicing and infrared stealth. Meanwhile, the wireless charging and electromagnetic induction luminescence application demonstration indicate that the MXene/DW film has great EMI shielding effect. The EMI SE value of MXene/DW films in X band (8.2–12.4 GHz) reaches 48 dB, which is much higher than commercial EMI materials (20 dB). At last, the MXene/DW film also has good electrochemical performances, making it also has potential applications in electrode materials. In summary, this work provides a feasible method for using renewable natural wood and MXene to prepare high-performance and multifunctional composite film, providing a new opportunity for developing sustainable wood as next-generation high-tech electronic devices.
