ABSTRACT

Photodegradation is a significant approach to protecting the environment. The BiOBr has attracted great interest due to its unique layered structure and narrow energy band. Herein, the hierarchical BiOBr with oxygen vacancy is fabricated via a facial solvothermal method using the Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) additive. The concentration of oxygen vacancies improves with the increase of SDS content, which could enhance the band gap and the redox ability of BiOBr. The hierarchical BiOBr modified by SDS presents excellent photodegradation activity for RhB and MO under visible light due to the synergistic effect of the oxygen vacancies, the redox ability, porous structure, the separation of photoinduced electron-hole pairs, and light absorption capacity. Furthermore, the BiOBr0.70 presented outstanding photodegradation ability under natural solar light, suggesting the photocatalysts could meet certain practical applications.
