ABSTRACT

Electrocatalytic glycerol oxidation reaction (GOR) is an economical and promising technology producing high-value chemicals. However, the development of highly active GOR electrocatalysts remains a critical issue. In this work, PdFe bimetallene catalyst was synthesized by a one-pot method. Owing to its abundant crystal defects, high surface energy and expanded surface active sites, defect-rich crimped perforated PdFe bimetallene exhibits excellent activity and stability toward GOR. PdFe bimetallene only requires potential of 0.68 and 0.81 V to provide currents of 100 and 200 mA cm −2 , respectively. The Faradic efficiency, selectivity and yield of glycolic acid were 98.3 %, 92.7 % and 292.5 μg h −1 mmol, respectively. This work provides valuable guidance for developing GOR electrocatalysts and new ideas and directions for high-value electrocatalytic conversion of biomass glycerol.
