A novel chiral organic-inorganic metal halide, (C6H16N2)3Zn3Br12·2H2O: Synthesis, crystal structure, and characterization

ABSTRACT

A new lead-free zero-dimensional (0D) hybrid halide, (C 6 H 16 N 2 ) 3 Zn 3 Br 12 ·2H 2 O, with dimensions of 10 × 10 × 5 mm 3 , has been successfully developed by means of the aqueous solution method. The optical measurements show that the title compound exhibits a moderate second-harmonic generation (SHG), satisfies phase matching, and has a short UV cut-off edge (198 nm). In addition, the crystal exhibits bright blue light emission under 365 nm light. Results show (C 6 H 16 N 2 ) 3 Zn 3 Br 12 ·2H 2 O is a promising chiral organic-inorganic metal halide material.
