ABSTRACT

In this paper, lignocellulosic carbon material (LCM) was prepared by carbonizing the delignified wood (DW), which was fabricated by delignification and freeze drying. LCM was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy , nitrogen adsorption measurements, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and water contact angle measurements. LCM with average pore diameter of 3.2 ± 0.1 nm maintained honeycomb-like skeleton after the pyrolysis and demonstrated Type IV N 2 adsorption–desorption isotherm. LCM showed Type H4 hysteresis loop. With high porosity, strong hydrophobicity , flame retardancy, and electrical conductivity , LCM had great application potential in adsorbents and waterproof, fireproofing, and electronic devices.
