ABSTRACT

With the increasing demand of health monitoring and protection, Point-of-Care Testing has developed rapidly due to its convenience and high efficiency. Here, a visual colorimetric nanofiber-based strip with a hierarchically porous structure was prepared for highly sensitive detection of glucose. To facilitate the subsequent testing, the composites with a hybrid nanoflower structure containing glucose oxidase (GOx), horseradish peroxidase (HRP), 3,3′5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and Mn 3 (PO 4 ) 2 were immobilized on a hierarchically porous PVA- co -PE nanofibrous strip. The obtained strip was used to detect glucose, a strong linear correlation (R 2 = 0.996) was found between the color difference and ln(C glucose ) in the range of 0.25–10 mM glucose. The detection limit is 0.14 mM and a discernible color change could be detected with the naked eye at low glucose concentration, indicating that the strip is highly sensitive to glucose. Additionally, a series of interferences substances including NaCl , KCl and urea were also investigated, and the results showed excellent specificity to glucose. Moreover, the strip exhibits good stability in the pH range of 5–7 and maintains excellent glucose detection performance after 60 days. It demonstrates that this strip is a promising candidate for personal diabetes detection.
