Elucidating the Characteristics of Palladium-Anchored CeO2-Modified Hexagonal Nanosheet Co3O4 Catalysts for the Complete Oxidation of Volatile Organic Compounds
Oxygen vacancies have been verified to be an important factor in the catalytic oxidation of VOCs. Herein, we report that surface-modified Co/Ce hexagonal nanosheets have excellent catalytic activity, stability, and water resistance. The introduction of cerium increases the oxygen storage capacity of the catalyst. In this work, the best catalyst (1.00 wt % Pd Co/Ce = 4/1) showed the highest catalytic activity for VOC oxidation (T90(toluene) = 160 °C, T90(benzene) = 156 °C). Combining XPS and O2-TPD data, it has been demonstrated that the introduction of cerium increases the adsorbed oxygen concentration of the catalyst. The oxidation of toluene and benzene over the 1.00 wt % Pd Co/Ce = 4/1 catalyst obeys the Langmuir–Hinshelwood (L–H) mechanism.
