ABSTRACT

A kind of amino-modified polyvinyl alcohol fibers were prepared to extract uranium from actual uranium-containing laundry wastewater. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed that amino groups were successfully attached to polyvinyl alcohol fibers' surface. The maximum adsorption capacity of uranium is 337.84 mg g −1 (pH 6.0). In the actual uranium-containing laundry wastewater system the modified fibers exhibited a high distribution coefficient for uranium (1.55 × 10 5  mL g −1 ). Given the aforesaid findings, It is an outstanding adsorbent for uranium elimination from actual uranium-containing laundry wastewater. Graphical abstract
