Effect of Promoters on the Catalytic Performance of Ni-Based Catalysts for Dry Reforming of Methane
Different promoters have a significant impact on the catalyst performance. In this paper, the effects of different promoters on the physical properties and catalytic behavior of methane dry reforming catalysts were investigated. A series of characterizations showed that the Mg, Ba, and Ca promoters increased the basicity of the catalysts. However, their high concentration of OH − leads to the destruction of Ni 3 Si 2 O 5 (OH) 4 species, which results in a decrease of catalytic performance. The addition of Ce significantly improves the catalyst stability. After 100 h of Ni-5Ce-MSC reaction, there was almost no carbon deposition, exhibiting high activity and resistance to carbon accumulation. These findings provide a new perspective for the design of nickel-based dry reforming catalysts.
