Screen printed electrode containing bismuth for the detection of cadmium ion
Heavy metal pollution causes serious environmental issues all over the world. Herein, a screen printed electrode (SPE) with carbon ink modified by Bismuth (Bi) powder (Bi-SPE) was prepared for the detection of Cd 2+ . The Bi-SPE showed a linear detection range of 5–50 μg/L and a detection limit of 4.80 μg/L for Cd 2+ . Compared with bare screen printed electrode (Bare-SPE), Bi-SPE exhibited better detection performance by providing more active sites for the predeposition of heavy metal ions . The advantage of Bi-SPE was to detect heavy metal ions without the addition of bismuth ions in the solution, which enabled it for in-situ detection. The prepared Bi-SPE holds great potential in the detection of heavy metal ions in real water samples.
