The evaluation of deep eutectic solvents and ionic liquids as cosolvents system for improving cellulase properties
In this work, the effects of two ionic liquids (ILs), four deep eutectic solvents (DESs) and the individual components of DESs on the stability and structure along with the activity of cellulase were systematically evaluated. The results reported that the cellulase activity was preserved in the ILs/DESs when the temperature was below 60 °C. The addition of 30 % (v/v) DES composed of betaine and ethylene glycol observably promoted the dissolution of microcrystalline cellulose that disrupt the cellulose structure and increases the accessibility of the enzyme. The DESs were considered to be compatible with cellulase because they had no destructive effect on the structure of cellulase in this work. The present study shows the evaluation of the DESs and ILs for improving cellulase properties with the potential to apply in the effective conversion of cellulose to fermentable sugars.
