Product Description
Gartanin is a natural xanthone of mangosteen, with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, neuroprotective and antineoplastic properties. Gartanin induces cell cycle arrest and autophagy and suppresses migration in human glioma cells.
In Vitro
Gartanin is a potential agent against glutamate-induced oxidative injury partially through increasing Nrf-2-independed HO-1 and AMPK/SIRT1/PGC-1α signaling pathways. Gartanin induces cell cycle arrest and autophagy and suppresses migration involving PI3K/Akt/mTOR and MAPK signalling pathway in human glioma cells. MCE has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
This compound belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 4-prenylated xanthones. These are organic compounds containing a C5-isoprenoid group linked to a xanthone moiety at the 4-position. Xanthone is a tricyclic compound made up of two benzene rings linearly fused to each other through a pyran ring that carries a ketone group.
