| Product Description |
(±)α-Methylserotonin maleate is a racemic mixture of α-Methylserotonin maleate and is a serotonin (SR) receptor agonist with preference for SR-2A, SR-2B, and SR-2C. (±)α-Methylserotonin maleate has been utilized in studies of aggression involving the central amygdaloid nucleus in female Wistar rats. Additional studies with frog spinal cord motoneurons in the presence of NMDA receptor open-channel blockers and high concentrations of α-methy-5-hydroxytryptamine indicated that these high concentrations significantly potentiated NMDA-induced depolarizations in these motoneurons.
α-Methylserotonin is a potent and selective agonist of 5-HT 2 receptor .α-Methylserotonin is an analogue of serotonin formed in vivo from α-methyltryptophan.α-Methylserotonin mediates the lymphatic smooth muscle contraction and prevents the up-regulation of serotonin-receptor-mediated phosphoinositide hydrolysis.
